After touching down in Darwin in the year 2000, I accepted a job as a pilot for Air North flying all over the Territory and Northern Australia, including to SE Asia. Like many others, my career in aviation ended with the advent of Covid and I was forced into early retirement. This forced me to rethink my priorities in life and made me acutely aware of how much the lives of ordinary citizens were vulnerable to the decisions of non-governmental organisations. I became more and more alarmed at the frightening state of world affairs and the rapid loss of Australia’s economic and national sovereignty.
My political journey began in 2018 around the time of the Banking Royal Commission, which revealed systemic corruption and malpractice amongst Australia’s Big Four banks. I joined the Australian Citizens Party because they were actively fighting for justice for bank victims and working to bring genuine change to the entire banking system.
I have become a strong advocate for a fair and just banking system for Australia, which must include re-establishing a national publicly-owned bank, including a postal savings bank to guarantee banking services and the use of cash for all citizens, regardless of where they live. This is one of the ACP’s core policies.
My alignment with the Citizens Party stems from a shared vision for economic reform, and a society that values its people over profit. I also believe in the principles of freedom of speech and oppose the government’s heavy-handed police-state interference in people’s lives. For that reason, I have decided to run for the Senate in the NT. We have to steer Australia towards a future where policies serve the people with integrity and foresight, not the big corporate vested interests.
It isn’t just about winning a seat; it’s about bringing the voice of Territorians to the national conversation. So often the Territory is neglected and taken for granted. Many would say that we have already been handed over lock stock and barrel to our “dangerous allies” to be used as a virtual aircraft carrier and resources quarry for the United States and for AUKUS. I am a passionate supporter of an independent foreign policy, for diplomacy, and against Australia being used as a proxy for war with China.
My vision for the NT and for the nation is for large-scale infrastructure projects including water, power, transport and communications, as well as investment into agriculture, manufacturing and other economic development projects to improve services and employment in our remote regions – policies that focus on sustainable growth that respects the land and its first inhabitants, policies that protect the NT’s unique biodiversity.
I am 55 years old; I love a good laugh and have been known to spin a yarn or two, and as often as I can, I get out bush where I enjoy hunting, camping, and boating.
