My name is Dennis Pukallus, I am 67 years old, and married with four children and five grandchildren. I retired recently and enjoy repairing and renovating old cars in my home workshop.
For 39 years I worked as a senior medical laboratory technician for Qld Health. I started in Virology in 1977, then did a 19 year stint in Mackay Base Hospital, then moved back to Brisbane, finishing my final years back in Virology.
During my time in Mackay, I noticed the downsizing of the hospital even though the population was growing, and I became annoyed at the current political agendas. This motivated me to join the Australian Citizens Party as they had investment in infrastructure and Government banking as part of their policy platform.
The move to Brisbane was to help my wife Jan (Qld ACP State Secretary) to grow the party and show some opposition to the current Lib/Lab free market Neo-Liberal policies that have ruined this country. The idea of a government bank in the form of a Post Office Bank, utilizing the Post Office with outlets in most towns in the country, is a win for Australians as the banks are currently closing as many branches as they can get away with.
We need a strong treasurer who can control the banking cartels in the interests of the people, not just shareholders. This country is also turning into a third world standard country with our lack of infrastructure and overcrowding of the eastern seaboard. This could be rectified with high-speed rail and water projects for the western regions, funded through a Government Bank.
This is my reason for running in this election as none of the major parties with their Neo-Liberal agenda for war and poverty will stand up and do it.
