The Maitland area situated in the Hunter Valley in NSW has been my home forever. It is where I went to school and where I’ve worked; first helping out on my parents’ dairy and crop farm during school holidays; then for seven years I worked in the Commonwealth Bank before becoming a full-time mum of three. Today, I am still working alongside my husband in our transport business which we started 46 years ago.

We have four grandchildren, and I do not want them or any of the younger generation to be denied the chance of reaching their full potential because I didn’t take some personal responsibility for political decisions effecting their futures.  I represent the Australian Citizens Party because I believe our solutions are what is essential to deal with the cost-of-living crisis being experienced by so many and to create a better future for all, young and old.  The ACP’s historical knowledge and understanding of “physical economy” plus their unwavering commitment to the truth — even if it makes us unpopular — is unique in politics today.

Before meeting the ACP in 1997, like most, I thought small and local. I was politically naïve. Whilst I didn’t like changes that were happening in our country — such as the shut-down of the National Textiles factory in Maitland because the government removed tariff protections for the textile industry — I thought there wasn’t much I could do about it. I was wrong. I have learned so much from the Citizens Party and have been advocating for their solutions ever since.

I have served as ACP National Chairman for the past 15 years, but my first federal election campaign was in 1998 in the seat of Hunter. If ACP warnings and policies were implemented back then: Australia would not have been forced to prop up banks during the global financial crisis; housing would still be available and affordable; our health system would have been prepared for any emergency; and we would have broken with the Five Eyes and adopted an independent foreign policy.

History shows that when a country utilises national banking; directs the nation’s capital into developing a manufacturing base and builds major infrastructure; regulates its industries; and services and protects its productive economy; that country will prosper and can fund a good healthcare system and education for its people.

The most important first step to turn the prosperity of the country around, is a government-owned and directed bank such as the ACP’s ready-to-go legislation for a Commonwealth Postal Savings Bank. Banking and postal services are being systematically denied to many Australians, however, as the 2024 Senate Inquiry into regional bank branch closures concluded, making Australia Post a public bank could be the solution. I urge everyone to support a Public Post Office Bank by voting for ACP candidates across the country because without it, not only regional towns and communities will die, but the whole economy will be negatively impacted.

The potential for Australia is huge but the major parties have an ideological commitment to the economic and geopolitical policies of the free market. That commitment is driving us headlong into financial and physical bankruptcy, and setting us up to be America’s proxy in a war against China, that the US and British are orchestrating.

This is insane but it can be reversed!  Australia still can make the right decision and the ACP is giving voters the opportunity to say “now is the time” to become a truly independent nation and break from our dangerous allies.
