I am a legal professional in WA, and have always been passionate about social justice issues and public law matters, and take a keen interest in family and criminal law. I graduated from the University of Western Australia firstly majoring in political science and international relations (with an Honours degree) and then a Bachelor of Law. I also am passionate about entrepreneurship and established a company called Modest Fashion Australia in 2018.

For the last two decades I have been deeply involved in the community, multicultural and arts spaces. I regularly engage in interfaith dialogue and multicultural events, hosting and creating initiatives and projects that aim to build bridges and promote mutual understanding, diversity and a sense of belonging.

I joined the Australian Citizens Party, very much by accident, but I believe that in life, everything happens for a reason. When I first met people from the political party, I had no idea who they were, or the party’s policy positions. But the more I researched, the more I realised that this party had been fighting for our protections and rights, for many decades. Their commitment to truth-telling and universal principles for the shared prosperity of humanity impressed me greatly. There was a value alignment that was so important for me. As someone who is generally cynical, I had started losing hope that we, as ordinary people, could ever effect change in a system that has been oppressive in many ways. Meeting the team from the ACP has started to restore some of my lost faith in humanity.

I did not intend to go into politics. I am about to get fully admitted as a lawyer later this year, and thought that law would be my pathway to achieving justice for the community. However, when I met the team from the ACP, I saw people I could work with for long-term change.

My heritage is Indonesian/Yugoslav and I came to Australia when I was six weeks old. I am familiar with the migration story, understand the challenges that come with adjusting to a new world. But I was also raised and educated in South Australia, then high school in Western Australia. My two sons were born in Perth.

I am a big believer in the grassroots of the community. That is where life begins and ends for me. My vision is that we become a community where all our diverse, colourful members feel they have a home in this country. A pluralist society does not mean we agree all the time about everything. However, we must have space to express views, and apply our democratic principles consistently across the board, based on mutual respect.

I am running for the WA Senate in the Federal Elections because I believe it is my duty to speak up. The ongoing crisis in Gaza and the surrounding countries, and Australia’s continued policy to blindly support US foreign policy even when it is detrimental to our national interest, has made it incumbent upon me to step up to the plate. now invite every reader and critical thinker to also consider the ideas and policies of the ACP with an open mind. I believe the ACP is the most positive force in politics today and has the most potential to be disruptive enough to effect a positive seismic shift in the tectonic plates of our political landscape; to engender the transformation that this country so desperately needs in order to guarantee our prosperity for our future generations.
