The CEC rejects the prevailing "green" view of the environment as somehow separate from, and threatened by, humans. Economic development can improve the environment for man and nature, while poverty can be very damaging. A strong economy helps address environmental problems and support conservation. Australia has some of the cleanest air and water and uncontaminated soils in the world, which future generations should also enjoy. Infrastructure can further improve air quality in cities, green arid areas, and protect water catchments; more resources are needed to combat invasive species.
